Travelling across channel from Portsmouth to Le Havre takes around two and a half hours with a fast sailing, however during low periods (winter) the fast option isn't available and you'll have to take the overnight sailings, which take longer but will cost less, for example, LD Lines sailing through the night on a slow sailing costs only £79 including a car!
