hoverspeed ferries The Hoverspeed ferry which operates from Dover to Calais is an exceptionally fast crossing. This crossing which is provided by Seacat takes place fifteen times per day during summer months.

Seacat claim to carry 2.5 million passengers and 500000 vehicles across the channel each year.
High speed crossings are also offered by Sea France on this same route which Stranarer to Belfast, Fishguard to Rosslare and Holyhead to Dub Laoghaire are also high speed sailings which reduce time for passengers. Although a lot of these ferries do not allow lorry's and coaches on, to save room for additional cars and passengers.

Prices tend to be a little more expensive for faster sailings and this has resulted in some routes being canceled because of lack of interest, such as the Boulogne to Dunkerque sailing. Or combine travelling by train: buy train tickets here!

Although the Dover to Calais crossing is the most popular high speed crossing it is in constant competition with the Eurotunnel for passenger numbers.
It was opened a year behind schedule and almost 2 billion over budget and surprising didn't meet passenger number expectations for its first period, as passengers did not stray away from the fantastic offers still being offered by the ferry companies.
