Dover is one of the UK's largest ports offering sailings to many major cities within Europe and further afield.
Dover is linked with Calais, and has one of the best, and busiest cross channel sailings between the UK and mainland Europe.

Sailings to Dover are very frequent, P&O offer 25 per day with return day trips for a passenger and a car for only £30! If you are interested in staying longer than one day, find your hotel accommodation here!  Sea France also do the Dover-Calais crossing, they have 15 a day.

Below is a sample timetable for P & O for their daily routes from Dover to Calais.  The times do vary, not by much - but when it’s the matter of messing a holiday then it can be very important!  Also, on some days it is important to note that not all sailings leave.

Prices; P&O tends to be dearer that Sea France, although the old adage is true "you get what you pay for" - as P&O are one of the oldest and best established fleets going.  But if you're just needing to get to Calais then Sea Ferries should suit you fine. 
For a return of a couple of days to a week P&O will cost you around £85-90 and Sea France around £50-60.

From Dover other routes include Boulogne and Dunkerque.

Dover is a town steeped with History, largley due to its excellent location at the cost and with such close links to France this town was always a great area of interest to the Monarchy and army's throughout British history.
